Fifteenth Mile of my Learning Journey

Review of last week
Last week was a good week for me because I got the result for distinction in Unit 1. I was quite scared to find out the report for this because I felt like when I did this assignment I rushed it. The reason why I rushed it is because I didn't manage my time properly  when I wanted to the assignment. My lack of management meant that I couldn't do important things like proofreading my work. The reason why proofreading is important is because it gives me a chance to find out any spelling errors that could inhibit the reader from understanding what I am trying to say. Another thing is that proofreading allows me to view my work from the reader’s point of view, this then allows me to make any adjustments in order to make things clearer. Lack of management also meant that I couldn't give my teacher a draft so she can have a look at it and tell me I am in the right path or not. I am lucky I passed this time but next time the result of lack of management could - God forbid - mean that I fail or not meet criteria. The further impact of that would be I would not get the D* that I am going this year.

Objectives for week commencing
This week my aim is to complete all my assignments before
the due date. I also want to meet all the criteria in the
entire task due. These pass criteria is as important as the distinction tasks
because if I don’t get the pass criteria I cannot go on to the merit criteria
which would them stop me from achieving my overall goal which is to get  D* D*
D.
It is vital that I get achieve distinction in the unit because it is what employers are looking for from students from my generation. Another objective for next week is to make sure that I do not have to get to lesson one minute before it starts. If I keep doing this it is very likely that I will turn up late to one of my lesson. The result of this happening is that my perfect 100% attendance and punctuality will drop. This can then have a further impact on my future because when I want to apply for the university that I want to go to and they ask for my attendance records. If they see that my punctuality is poor they can decide not to offer me a place in the university because they might think that I might be turning up to lectures late.
Another objective for me is to proofread all my work because poor proof
reading can cause problems such as the teacher not understanding what I am
trying to communicate. I can avoid grammar errors by using spell check on the
computer and switching the language to English (UK).

My development
In order to develop as a person and as an academic I need to understand and embrace the fact that mistakes and failure is part of life.  Sometimes people failing and making mistakes is the best way for people to achieve success. I guess I just need to understand that mistakes or failing does not mean the chance of having a successful future is over. It could be that the mistake happening or you failing can actually put you on the right path to a future better than what you planned.
